Williams Companies (WMB) is an energy infrastructure company focused on connecting North America’s significant hydrocarbon resource plays to growing markets for natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and olefins. Williams’ operations span from the deepwater Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian oil sands.WMB reports financials under three operating segments: Atlantic Gulf, Access Midstream, Northeast G&P, NGL/Petchem, and the West. Access Midstream was a major addition to the portfolio, which was acquired/merged in February 2015 for nearly $6.0 Billion. Access Midstream and Northeast G&P diversify Williams' gathering portfolio into shale production, whereas the Atlantic Gulf and West segments are focused primarily on conventional production areas. Williams' natural gas transmission pipelines are some of the best in the country, offering stable, contracted revenue into relatively captive demand markets. A majority of the NGL/Petchem's earnings are from the Geismar Olefins plant, which resumed normal operations in February 2015 after being offline since June 2013.
